Tulane University’s Service-Dog Training & Education Program is an organization focused on training, raising, and educating about assistance dogs and their impact on an individual's life and community. TUSTEP allows students the opportunity to raise and train service dogs in conjunction with being full-time students, creating the opportunity for experimental growth for both the raiser and the dog. Dogs are raised from the age of eight weeks in our eighteen month program. We use our platform to connect with our Tulane community through events, meetings, puppy sitting, and leadership positions. Working with Canine Companions (CC), we strive to promote the importance of service dogs and education on their influence.
Right now, one of the biggest expenses our raisers face is providing food and treats, which is an essential part of each puppy’s development. Currently, each of our dogs eats about an $80 bag of food during a one to two month period. This results in a cost of almost $1500 per dog for food alone. We need your help! We’re raising funds to support our current and future dogs on campus by covering the cost of their required diets. Every dollar donated directly supports our puppies and their raisers, ensuring they have what they need to succeed.
