Donations to the Cowen Institute help sustain our research, initiatives and programs, ensuring we can continue to:
Research & Thought Leadership - We chronicle and analyze changes in New Orleans’ educational landscape, releasing primers, infographics and briefs to facilitate informed dialogue among community members. Our research includes our flagship publication, the State of Public Education in New Orleans, public perception polls and the annual Governance Chart, providing critical insights that shape policy and practice.
Equip education leaders & practitioners – We provide capacity-building training and create opportunities for collaboration through convenings. By bringing together education leaders, practitioners and community partners, we share data, exchange ideas, and develop actionable strategies to strengthen college and career pathways for New Orleans youth.
Teaching & Learning – We equip the next generation of educators and leaders by teaching Tulane students about public education, teaching practices and educational leadership. Through our courses, which include a service-learning component, students engage in over 1,000 hours of service in New Orleans schools each year.
