Tulane Jazbaa is Tulane University’s premier Bollywood fusion dance team. We blend a wide variety of dance styles—including hip-hop, kuthu, bharatnatyam, bhangra, dhamaal, contemporary, and Bollywood—to create high-energy, dynamic performances. We proudly represent Tulane both on campus at school events and nationally against top collegiate dance teams across the country.
Competing at the national level is an incredible experience, but it comes with substantial financial hurdles. As a student-run organization, funding helps us bridge the gap between our university budget and the actual costs required to compete at a high level. Without community support, covering these essential expenses becomes a major challenge for our members.
All funds raised through this WaveStarter campaign will be treated as a direct organizational grant to cover high-cost operational needs for our competitive season. Specifically, donations will go toward:
Costumes and Performance Attire: Designing and purchasing cohesive, high-quality outfits for our competition sets.
Production & Prop Equipment: Buying and building safe, durable props used dynamically in our routines.
Music & Audio Fees: Compiling, mixing, and licensing fees for our competition audio tracks.
Travel & Registration: Assisting with registration fees and travel logistics for national competitions.
2026 Dare a Dancer Challenges:
- The Classic Pie-in-the-Face: Donate to see a designated, willing dancer get hit with a plate of whipped cream.
- Crack an Egg with a Bicep: Watch a dancer attempt the ultimate meme-worthy feat of strength live on video.
- Teach a Dance Move: Request a quick 30-second tutorial where a Jazbaa member teaches you a signature Bollywood or hip-hop move on the spot.
- The Statue Challenge: Have a dancer hold a dramatic, funny dance pose or balance position in a public campus space for a full minute.
- Custom Song Freestyle: Pick an upbeat song of your choice and watch a dancer bust out an impromptu 30-second freestyle routine.
- Profile Picture Swap: Choose an appropriate, funny, or themed photo for a designated dancer to use as their personal social media profile picture for 24 hours.
- TikTok Dance Challenge: Pick a trending TikTok dance, and our team will film it, post it to our official Instagram (@tulanejazbaa), and tag you!
- The Tortilla Slap: Have a willing dancer hold water in their mouth while the donor gets to gently slap them with a soft flour tortilla (trying to make them laugh and spit out the water)!
- Dance to No Music: Watch a dancer perform a 30-second choreography or freestyle completely in silence, relying purely on rhythm and timing.
